Being a QC, that's an aluminum driveshaft right? For grins, you wouldn't happen to know of anyone, or heard of anyone who's cut one down for an RC have ya?

No, but I know plenty of other applications that have done something similar. We just picked up a junkyard driveshaft from a Fox for a '67 Mustang we're building with an AOD. Took the driveshaft shop a day and $200 to fit it to the '67.

Why? Are the RCs not Al?

Have him make me an offer. It's still at Gilbert's - same place Derek went to get his replacement driveshaft (is that who you're thinking of?). I gotta give Gilbert $636 to get it and my new driveshaft. It's gonna hurt.

Funny story: I left the QC driveshaft at the shop were I bought the '04 545RFE. Art from Henson calls me last week and asks if I know anyone who has a shaft for a QC. I say, "sure, but let me call my buddy and make sure he hasn't sold it." Art proceeds to tell me about Derek's broken shaft and where he was going to get it fixed - Gilbert's. I call my buddy Matt and he tells me no, I swapped that Dodge driveshaft to a guy who's building me a new one for my GM. I ask, "who?" He says, "Gilbert."

Big city, little city. I think Gilbert sold this shaft literally minutes before Derek called.

If you know someone who can get it cut to length, I'd like to try it! I've been looking around, and the cheapest I've found is $500 before shipping. Kinda pricey if you ask me. I'm wondering if they'll be just as strong as the steal. I really don't know why they put them on a QC, but not an RC.

Measure from the pinion flange to the output shaft and I'll see what I can find out. Strength? Eh....

Shoot me an offer PM, but quick as my trans is heading to Sharadon Thursday as a core.

I bought a Powermaster starter for an LA engine (318, 360) - nice piece!

Jared, isn't that driveshaft an aluminum unit from a Quad cab? If it is, shoot me a PM. I might take it off your hands...
