I haven't heard of anyone, but I would think it would be a good combo. You thinking/planning on using 5.7 heads for your build?

Explain why using 5.7 heads would be better on a 6.1 when everyone with a 5.7 gets 6.1 heads? (That I know of anyway.)

Smaller cc size on the 5.7 head = more compression.

Another reason would be if you wanted a beefer bottom-end all forged 6.1 without buying the top-end.

I think the 6.1 head outflows the 5.7 stock vs. stock and still makes power despite the slightly lower compression when used on a 5.7. I don't think many use the 5.7 heads on 6.1 shortblocks and strokers because they want to use the 6.1 intake. I'm pretty sure Arrington has a solution for using 5.7 heads on a 6.1 shortblock with 6.1 intake, but I don't see it on the site.

Other than the fact to use a 6.1 intake manifold (though I don't see many people running these), I guess the higher flow gains out weigh the loss in compression? I figured the 6.1 heads would flow better, but maybe I'm just under the impression people are getting the 6.1 heads with port and polish jobs from companies when they're really 5.7 heads with a port in polish. Prolly justmy misinterpretation.

What about those guys who blow the bottom end out of their 5.7 and want that extra little bit more horsepower for their 5.7 components they already have? Good alternative to get going quick and stronger than you were. Instead of replacing the 5.7 bottom end.

Yep, looking into that myself. Either going that route or going to use the crate motor intake....the later will work better with my 6 pack intake system. Angel

What I miss here? 6.1 Heads on the 5.7 cause higher compression! Why would the 5.7 on the 6.1 block raise it? Am I wrong here? I'm thinking the same here, pick up a 6.1 short block and add my top end to it!
