Hey Moto, I got a couple of questions for ya. Nice write up on the Nex setup by the way. Anyway, back to the question. I am wanting to put a fuel cell in my truck, and I have been looking around at a lot of them. I want to mount in the rear end behind the axle between the frame rails. Now that said, I am having a hard time figuring out what I need to get. There are so many different cells, which is the right kind to use? I know the circle track ones are out of the question really, but most of the other ones are the same or anywhere near the capacity of our factory tanks, and I really want to keep it close to that as possible. I will be using an Aeromotive inline fuel pump or in cell pump, haven't decided yet. Any recommendations? I want to put the Nex system in at the same time. You have done this already, so any help you can provide would be appreciated.

Are you planning on mounting it in the bed or under the bed in the spare tire location? I may be doing the same thing pretty soon, and will be mounting it in the bed as it will be much easier to install and fill (and I retired my bed from hauling anything but a bottle, anyway).

Here's one from Summit.

I plan to do a 15 to 20 gallon (I think stock is 23) gravity feed with an Aeromotive inline pump (and filter), very similar to the fuel system for my nitrous set-up. I don't know if I can get the factory gauge to work with the supplied sending unit in these larger tanks, but I'll cross that bridge.

You will need to get a regulator and feed it with a -6 or -8 braided steel line. Aeromotive does have rails for the 5.7 car intake, not sure how much work, if any, it would take to mount these to the truck intake. I have a pic around here somewhere.

The Zex system is really straight forward. The only accessory I would add that I didn't in my write up is a fuel pressure safety switch. This will cut off the N2O flow if low fuel pressure is sensed. You can pick these up anywhere for $40 or $50, I believe.

Found the pic of the Aeromotive rails (they haven't added to their site yet).

Here are a couple links to the pump and regulator I used for the nitrous system. I'll probably go with the same pieces if I fab a new fuel system.

Aeromotive Pump

Regulator

You'll also want to get the fuel filter and thread it directly to the inlet side of the pump using a -10 male-to-male connector.

I am mounting it under the bed, with the filler coming through the bed.

Check this one out. They also sell the brackets and the filler necks. Should be pretty trick.

Not nearly big enough. Don't want to lose that much fuel capacity. But that is the style I was looking at. Just trying to figure out which one I need to get. This is more like what I am wanting:

Hey Jared, want me to run my '03 over to Aeromotive and have one of yer contacts scale it up on my truck to see if that fuel rail for the LX cars is compatable? I don't need it, but they'd have one to look at for referance.

Not but maybe 20 minutes. Lightning guys around here use there stuff all the time. Shawn has a full custom fuel system with their A1000 fuel pump on 60lbs injectors on his 1st gen Lightning pushing 600 supercharged hp. Think he said he's RETURNING 13 gallons of fuel a minute at WOT. He knows some guys up there pretty well, let alone a lot of people at the track know Steve Metusik as well.

Dunno... depends a lot on application, and what yer trying to do. Being that they're working on Jareds truck with a crate motor, they already got that end covered. Not much of a reason to upgrade a factory truck until you use a power adder.

D, for the money yer gonna put into it, you may as well buy a 6.1 392. Cause after you buy the Procharger kit, have aeromotive make a fuel system for you, you're gonna be left with a "stock" motor and tranny that probably won't even abe able to handle the amount of power that a 392 6.1 dish's out.

Regardless of the fuel system, their kit is only rated for 475 hp at the motor. And that's the big boost kit. You "could" get them to do a custom kit, and have aeromotive make you a fuel system to stay up to par, but then yer at the limit of yer interals of the engine. Then yer gonna have to get into the motor anyway... see where I'm goin'?

475hp is only 50 more hp than a stock 6.1. It really isn't worth it to me when you have so many people that can build yer 5.7, let alone a 6.1 to those specs easier, and more reliable for probably cheaper when it's all said and done.

When have you ever heard me complain about money? Liar I think I am going to put a 392 in it next year. Not the Mopar version, rather one built by Sharadon or Arrington....whichever I think has what I am looking for in a motor at the time....

PPP has a 'smoking' deal on a 392 shortblock right now according to Andy. It was built by the best in the biz.

I hope "smoking" isn't the keyword, lol. I'm kinda on hold with my truck till I see something about this '09 Ram R/T.
