I am in the process of getting the Sharadon Stage II Tranny (because I blew my factory tranny Boo hoo!) along with a 3000 stall converter. I already had some traction issues before the stall and now I am looking at even worse traction.

My question is:
Is there any really sticky 22" tires that I can run for street driving or do I absolutely have to drop to smaller wheels? Eh?

I've been going through this myself lately. None that I can find, unfortunately. Mickey Thompson recently released their Sportsman SR radials, but they only go to 20".d'oh! I finally gave up a bought a set of MT ET Streets 28x11.50 with 16x8 wheels and am going to have to grind down the calipers. Maybe by the time I burn these down we'll have some more options.

Do you think this would be a good choice in tire? I thought about it and I wouldn't mind dropping my wheels to a 20" size if need be.

Tough call as the narrowest tread they have is 15". It's not a soft drag radial as I understand it, but with 30" of meat on the ground i'd think your traction issues during daily/ spirited street driving would be over. You'd probably still want to run a stickier tire at the track. IIRC, we measured mine and they will fit with a custom backspace wheel ($$$$$).

I think it would look sweet as hell though with some 20x8 upfront, especially on an RC! A new-school Pro Street stance.

I'm trying to find something with a decent size wheel/tire/traction myself Mike, but I just don't think it's gonna happen. I've been wheel shopping for I dunno how long.

Nitto has a new 305/35 20 (28.5" tall) drag radial. I ran their 555Rs on my SS for years. They hook pretty well and I got 6500 to 8k miles out of them average - and I wasn't nice to them. 411rwhp + an NX 150 wet shot. I fired the stock clutch shortly after throwing the first set on. Then I fried the Spec stage 3, then the Centerforce, then, well you get the point.
