Good find! I had a feeling they'd be coming out with these soon. Now maybe I can feel safe going back to my short wires with nitrous.

I'm running them in my 4.6L SC'ed Roush but have no real evidence they help but I feel better running them.

I know on smaller motors, you can really tell a difference... like Honda's and such.

There is a kit available that swaps out the '03-'05 ignition coils and valve covers for the 6.1 coils and covers. I don't know if the 6.1 coils are as powerful as the MSD, but it is another way to go.

I think the advantage on this is no wires to deal with like on my 07 you will get more spark if both coils had the same power output as there wouldn't be any loss through the resistance of the wires.

Heard some disturbing news from the charger forum that the MDS coils don't put out anymore voltage compared to the OEM units. They said they are nice to look at but performance they are a washd'oh!

The OEM 6.1 or 5.7? Rumor is the 6.1s put out more power.

6.1 since it was the SRT guys talking about it so maybe the 05 and below coils would be OK from MSD but then again you could just get the upgrade kit to convert the 5.7 to the 6.1 cheaper than what the MSD is selling them for. There are rumors that MSD is going to boost their coils performance in mid to late 2008. They do look cool though $400+ is a lot for some swagBoo hoo!

Really would have been nice if they had made it a bolt on application to eliminate the wires altogether on the 03-05 models...Haven't seen any test results yet, but the few folks that are running them say they are pretty much the same powerwise as the 6.1 coils.

Just got some feedback from MSD I don't know what those SRT forum guys were talking about since according to MSD hasn't released them yet?
Quote:

Currently the coil pack information available to the public is limited due to the fact that these coils haven't actually been released. You might want to check back with us later on down the road as we may have more information at that time.

Thanks,
MSDTECH

6,1 upgrade coil pack still seems cheaper and the better rout for us 03 to 05 guys.

Well MSD support is lacking, I posed the question on any proof or reviews of their coil packs and was given this reply:

"unfortunately we never tested our units that way ....
the coils are a direct bolt-in and are spec'd with superior materials and winding ratios to improve the output of the coil while retaining the factory fit."

You would think that a performance company would like to know how their product performs.Think
